Linden, New Jersey/ US. October 2012.
DECA Students at Linden High School participated in a Community Service project during the 2012 Fall Football season this year. The project involved DECA students selling Thundersticks at Linden High School football games. The gol of the project was to raise mony for the Food Bank of NJ.
The Food Bank of NJ is a non-profit organization whose mission it is to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long-term solutions.
Students sold thundersticks to boost school sprit and collected donations from individuals that also wanted to support the Food Bank of NJ. The club raised over $300 this fall.
Linden High School DECA Advisor, Holly Sepulveda commented that “This was a great project for our students. They learned that no matter what anyone has or does not have, it is important to help any way possible.” Holly added that “many of our students were affected by Hurricane Sandy. As a result, they have a deeper appreciation for what they have and feel a stronger desire to help others since many members of the community came out to offer them help when they needed it.”
